Disney Cruise Line Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Disney asked me to write and produce the music for their float in the 95th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The float would feature their newest cruise ship – Wish – and the actor/singer Jordan Fisher (Dancing With the Stars – Season 25 winner and star of Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen). The pressure was on with over 25 million viewers.

For the original song, I wanted the lyrics to be rhythmic, playful, and use alliteration and rhyming sequences similar to newer Broadway shows like Hamilton. The chorus needed to be catchy and singable while the genre leaned towards pop-dance.

The result was an upbeat and funky song which was featured on NBC’s live broadcast before a commercial break. I also arranged an original medley of classic Disney songs that played from the float throughout the parade route. The production received wide-ranging positive reviews and gave the world its first glimpse of Disney’s flagship ocean liner.
